Assessments Land Use and Land Cover Change Base by Using Landsat7ETM+satellite Imagery A Case Study in National Protected Area, Nam Et-Phou Louey,Vengthong, Districts, Houaphan Province, Northern Lao P.D.R

【摘要】:Nam Et-Phou Loei, National Biodiversity Conservation Area (NBCA), location in the Northern part of Lao PDR, is one of the country's critical NBCAs and has an important role in both conservation and sustainable development functions. Moreover, all part of the Nam Et-Phou Loei was declared as a National Biodiversity Conservation Areas and is a candidate development area for an Ecology Conservation and Wildlife Conservation plant. Land use changes in this Nam Et-Phou Loei, NBCAs area will not only affect the flora and fauna, but also the potential and success of Land use and Forest cover, and also Biodiversity Ecology system, which is the dominant land use in the uplands of this area. At that time this study relies on using remote sensing and GIS, which are two powerful tools for providing scientific information in support of decision-making process for natural resources management. Furthermore, Landsat7ETM+images, acquired in2000and2011, were classified using maximum likelihood classifier and post-classification for comparing change detection to quantify the extent and spatial patterns of land cover changes. This study analysis was focused on classifying the extent and quantifying the changes in five classes such as:(ⅰ) Forest land,(ⅱ) Grass land,(ⅲ) Bamboo land,(ⅳ) Agriculture land,(ⅴ) Rice paddy field land. The results show both the extent and rates of land cover change and also land use practices causing the observed land cover changes. Stratified random sample points were generated for accuracy assessment via a ground based visual assessment of each point's LUCC class. By using five class LUCC schemas, a supervised classification of the Maximum likelihood data set resulted in classification overall accuracy85%and Kappa statistic0.75of year2000and overall accuracy83%and Kappa statistic0.66of year2011. Moreover, large areas of change were documented during this11-year period. These changes were then relate to spatially explicit local people livelihood and land use and land cover change data in order to assess and model driving forces behind these changes. The magnitude and widespread changes of the land cover indicate the urgent need for studies on land use and land cover planning and management process in the Nam Et-Phou Loei, National Biodiversity Conservation Areas to ensure their sustainable development.
